Infectious diseases in school
We follow the Health Protection Agency Guidelines to manage and control infectious diseases in school.
Diarrhoea and Vomiting To help prevent the spread of diarrhoea and vomiting within schools all children should be excluded until 48 hours after the diarrhoea or vomiting has stopped.
Chicken Pox Children with chicken pox should stay away from school for five days from the first appearance of the rash.
Impetigo Children with impetigo should be excluded from school until the skin is healed or until 48 hours after antibiotic treatment has begun.
Head lice Children with infestation do not need to be excluded from school but they should be treated as soon as possible to minimise transmission to others.
