Headteacher's Welcome

It has been lovely to see the children back in school this week refreshed after the holidays. There was great excitement as the children discovered the new changes that have taken place to the woodland area. The PTA have kindly paid for developments including a new mud kitchen, den building, raised beds for planting, a small shelter for role play as well as posts for den building. We will share photos soon of the children in action!

Thank You PTA!!

It was great to see the enthusiasm from the children for the Easter celebrations by bringing an amazing selection of Easter and Spring themed hats and bonnets and head-wear - they really did look fantastic! Thanks so much for your support in the making and also to those of you who were able to join this afternoon for the parade.

Enjoy the extra long weekend - let's hope the sunshine stays shining for us all!

  Exciting Preschool News!

As you may be aware from September 2025 most preschool aged children will be eligible for 30 hours of free childcare. The government are keen to expand preschool opportunities in schools as they recognise the high quality provision offered by qualified teachers in schools. We are pleased to share with you that we have been successful in a bid for additional funding to set up our own Preschool at Nether Green Infant School. We are hugely excited about this and would really value your thoughts, feedback and comments. We request that all parents - even those who no longer have preschool aged children, read the letter and respond to our survey to help us to shape our provision to work for our families.

Please read the attached letter.

You can respond to our survey here - there are a few short questions for all parents and then an 'Expression of Interest' section at the end for any parents who may be interested in a place in the future for children currently under the age of 4.

Please feel free to share this link with any friends, family etc you know who may be interested in using our Preschool in the future.

Y2 Dance Performance Next Week

Next Thurs, 24th Apr, at 2:45pm we are inviting parents of children in Year 2 to come to the school hall to see a short performance of their child's dance that they have been learning in PE.  Every year there is dance festival at the Octagon for Sheffield schools to perform, however we are only ever able to take one class. We would therefore like to give all of the Y2 children a chance to perform their dance to an audience. If you are able to join us please come to the main entrance at 2:45pm. The performance will last around 20 minutes and you are welcome to take your child home afterwards.

Any Penguins parents wishing to see the dance at Octagon must have booked tickets.

This can be found each week on the Foundation Stage page of the website. Click Here.

Contact with Teachers

If you need to contact your child's class teacher you may email them using the class email which is the name of the class as follows e.g. bears@nethergreen-inf.sheffield.sch.uk, koalas@nethergreen-inf.sheffield.sch.uk etc

Please do not expect an immediate response as teachers are teaching all day and are not expected to reply to emails during evenings and weekends. For a quick chat you can wait at the end of the day. For urgent messages please contact the school office.

                              PTA NEWS

We hope you all enjoyed the Easter holiday and are looking forward to the Bank Holiday weekend. The children started their chocolate fest at yesterday’s Easter Egg Hunt!!

You should now have received a letter about the School Disco which will take place on Thurs 15th May, 17:30-18:30. This is also now live on ParentPay.

Thanks to all who have already contributed to raffle prizes and offered to volunteer at the NGIS Summer Fair on Friday 20th June. We still need LOTS more volunteers to help us prepare and man the stalls on the day! Please look out for a list of stalls you can volunteer for outside school in the new term. If you can come along to the next PTA meeting on Tuesday 6th May to help plan the event too, that’d be a brilliant help.

As the weather is finally becoming more spring-like, just a reminder that there is lots of second-hand school uniform for sale at GrownOutOfIt. All profits go to our lovely school!

Thank you for your continued support!
