Headteacher's Welcome

You may have seen our fantastic Road Safety Officers outside this week braving the freezing temperatures to share an important message with members of our school community. Well done to the School Council for doing this with such enthusiasm and a smile! We also had a member of the Road Safety Team from Sheffield City Council in school to talk to all the children about staying safe on the roads especially during the winter months when it is darker. The children in Reception also had a practical workshop which was useful in reinforcing these messages.

School Streets Survey
A big thank you to those of you who engaged with the School Streets Survey - please see the message from the parents who organised this:-
Thank you to everyone that filled in our School Streets survey. We had 94 responses, with 63% in favour of us setting up a School Street outside NGIS, 24% were against the idea and 12% were unsure.
A big thank you to the 20 people who volunteered to help marshall the School Street. Unfortunately we would need a much higher number of volunteers to make the project viable so we will not be to take it forward at present.
The responses showed that lots of parents are concerned about road safety outside the school and feel that there is a problem with inconsiderate parking by some parents.
The school is committed to improving road safety on Stumperlowe Park Road and so there are plans to:
 - buy more cones to prevent parking directly outside the school
 - request the council improves signs on the road to highlight the 20mph speed limit and to drive cautiously around the school
- support members of the school council to act as Road Safety Officers to encourage everyone to use the road safely
