Headteacher's Welcome

We have had a super start to the new term, the children have come back refreshed, full of exciting news from their half term break and ready to learn which has been great to see.

This term our school value is:-

We will be talking to the children  about :-

  • How can you show kindness to others?
  • How does it feel when people are kind to you?
  • How does it feel when people are unkind?

New Quiet Area

We have introduced some new resources this week to our Quiet Area for playtimes. This includes some story books and sensory toys. Each class has had a session outside with their teacher learning about how to look after the resources and use them respectfully.

Thank you PTA for funding this fabulous area!

Children In Need | Pingu Wiki | Fandom

Next Friday, 15th of November, is BBC Children in Need. The School Council have met and agreed that we shoudl try to raise some money for Children in Need. They shared some ideas for fundraising  with their classes and their the overall winning choice was ...

Dress as you please!

Your child may 'dress as they please' next Friday. Please ensure they have warm, comfortable  clothing which enables them to toilet independently and also comfortable shoes as they will be in the playground as usual at playtime and lunchtime.

If you would like to support this fantastic charity you can donate via ParentPay by following this link.

Donate to Children in Need

All money raised goes to supporting the amazing work they do. This is their plea for this year...

Help us make life lighter for children

Right now we are only able to fund 1 in 8 organisations who ask us for help.

Children across the UK are facing greater challenges than ever, with mental health conditions such as anxiety & depression rising, high levels of poverty leading to inequality & lack of opportunity.

Many children are simply carrying a load that’s too heavy to manage alone, so this year, we are asking you to help make life lighter for children.

New Bike and Scooter Shelter
Over half term we have had builders in to develop a new area for children's bikes and scooters to be kept. It will be much easier for children in the morning as it is closer to the main gate. We are awaiting the arrival of a brand new wooden shelter which we have been given by Sheffield City Council as part of an Active Travel initiative - well done Mrs Scott for successfully bidding for this!
The new steps and concrete base have been funded by the PTA - thank you! Unfortunately we have been told that there is going to be a bit of a wait until the wooden shelter is built so in the meantime Mr Hopkinson has moved the current bike stands onto the concrete platform so from Monday children can park their bikes and scooters in the new area.
There will be a one-way system; the children should go down the steps and park their bike / scooter then go back up the path.

Contact with Teachers

Please do not expect an immediate response as teachers are teaching all day and are not expected to reply to emails during evenings and weekends. For a quick chat you can wait at the end of the day. For urgent messages please contact the school office.

Hope everyone have a lovely half term break.
Thank You …
… to you and your families for supporting the Autumn Cake Sale on 11 October. We had a fantastic day and raised a huge £170 – a cake sale record for the NGIS PTA!
The children and the Firth Homes residences they visited really enjoyed the fun outfits they wore for the Autumn Dress As You Please Day on 24 October! This raised a further £90 for the PTA.
So far this year we've raised more than £340 through in-school and online school uniform sales. Please do think of us if you have any further sort outs at home! If you need any more spares, do visit our online shop at Grown Out of It.
Thank you for your continued support and generosity with our fund raising efforts.
Christmas Cards
The children’s fantastic Christmas card designs are now with Xmas4Schools. Once your child’s design is available for printing, parents will receive a unique order link to order products online. Everything you order will be delivered to school in early December, in plenty of time for Christmas!

School Tea Towels
Christmas presents sorted! Children have now drawn their self-portraits and all tea towel orders should be made via ParentPay. Two payment links are now live on ParentPay. The prices are one tea towel for £5 or 3 for £12 - there is a payment item for each of these options. Please ensure all payments are made by Wed 20th Nov.
Autumn Fair – Fri 29 Nov
Just a reminder that our Autumn Fair will be held on Fri 29 Nov, 3.30pm to 4.30pm in the School Hall. We would be very grateful if parents would make donations to the bake, school uniform and Christmas clothing sales. So please dig out and get the children to try on last years’ Christmas outfits and save any they can’t wear again for the Fair!
We will also be running a silent auction - more details to follow but in the meantime please consider how you might help us secure some prizes by reaching out to everyone you know who might donate. We're aiming high and would love to have at least 5 higher value prizes to whip up a bit of competition and get the bids rolling in!

The Elfridges store will also open its doors!! This is a special shop that sells small presents such as toiletries, books, toys, etc. (items can be second-hand if they are in good condition and not damaged or broken but we can’t accept used toiletries or earrings for hygiene reasons).  The gifts can then be bought for £1-2 by the children as a surprise present for their loved ones. Gifts will be wrapped and ready to put under the tree.
Cash Pot for Schools
There’s still time to sign up for ASDA’s Cashpot for Schools campaign which runs until the end of November! The school receives a donation of £1 when you sign up for the app and then some additional funding every time you shop at ASDA. A low effort way of contributing to the school!
Get Involved!
Thank you for all your support. If you have any questions or comments and want to get involved in the PTA please message us at nethergreeninfantschoolpta@gmail.com. Or join us at our next meeting on Tuesday 12th November at The Florentine at 7.45 pm – everyone welcome!
