Headteacher's Welcome

We are really pleased to share with you the exciting news that we have been chosen to join the Sheffield Children's Hospital Pride of Yorkshire project!!!

We will be planning various events throughout the year to raise money for the project. Look out soon for details on the 'Sponsored Pancake Toss' which will be a joint fun event to also raise money for the PTA.

Change to Arrangements for Breakfast and After School Club Drop Off  / Pick up

Now that our Preschool outdoor area is completed we are going to go back to the previous arrangements for drop off and collection at Breakfast and After School Clubs.

What to do:

  • Please press the buzzer as usual at the top (Preschool) gate and a member of staff will open the gate. Please wait patiently - it may take a few moments for the gate to open.
  • Once the gate opens, please walk along the path alongside school, through the wooden gates and around the school building.
  • Go up the steps to the hall door and ring the bell.
  • Staff will come to the door and greet your child (BC) or handover your child to you (ASC).
  • If you pick your child up from ASC before 4.20pm please ring the buzzer and wait for a moment. If no one is available to answer, please come to the school office.

For Extra Curricular Clubs: the arrangements will remain the same with a member of staff coming to the main gate with the group at 4:20pm.

Idling Engines

This problem seems to be increasing! Please could we kindly remind you not to stop on the double yellow lines to drop your child off - this is not safe for your child, blocks the road making in dangerous for others and pollutes the air around our school.

Find out more about the impact of air pollution...

Air pollution impacts us all in some way, including your loved ones. It can lead to serious and life-threatening diseases such as:

  • lung cancer
  • stroke
  • asthma

In fact, one in 20 deaths in Sheffield can be attributed to poor air quality every year.

Did you know?

It's important to be aware of the following facts about pollution:

  • an idling engine burns fuel less efficiently, pumping out up to twice the emissions of a moving car
  • in Sheffield alone, around 50% of all nitrogen dioxide (NO2) pollution released into the air is caused by road traffic

What you can do

The simple act of switching off your engine can make a meaningful difference to the air quality in Sheffield. We must all work together to protect the health of ourselves, our loved ones and the environment around us.

We'd like to encourage those that need to use vehicles to ‘cut their engines and cut the health risk’ during wait times and when they are stationary.

Please ensure you’re switching off your engine:

  • within the Clean Air Zone
  • outside Sheffield schools
  • during drop-offs and pick-ups across Sheffield

Please see the attached letter for more details - if you read this and think you might be interested or want to know more feel free to have a quick chat with Mrs Hawkins on the gate or send an email to school.

Maths Open Morning for Parents / Carers  - Tues 27th Jan

Parents of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are invited to come into school next Tuesday morning to join their child for some Maths activities in their classrooms. Classrooms will be open from 8:40am as usual and parents are welcome to stay until 9:30am. We know some parents will need to dash to work so feel free to just pop in for 10 minutes if you can. It's a lovely way to learn more about how your child learns Maths in school.

Contact with Teachers

If you need to contact your child's class teacher you may email them using the class email which is the name of the class as follows e.g. bears@nethergreen-inf.sheffield.sch.uk, koalas@nethergreen-inf.sheffield.sch.uk etc

Please do not expect an immediate response as teachers are teaching all day and are not expected to reply to emails during evenings and weekends. For a quick chat you can wait at the end of the day. For urgent messages please contact the school office.

Dress as You Please - Thank you!

Thank you for supporting our 'Dress as you Please Day' today - it was lovely to see the children looking fabulous in all their outfits. If you didn't get chance to send a cash donation you can still donate via the QR which is on the noticeboard outside school or via this link.
