Headteacher's Welcome

I hope you all had a lovely break over the holidays and enjoyed some quality time with your families - it was lovely to see some sunshine too! The children have certainly come back refreshed after the break and ready to learn. You can find out more about each year group's learning for this term by looking on the KS1 or Foundation Stage pages (see links below).

A special welcome to our new Preschool children who have started this week, they are settling in well to their new routines - well done!

Y3 Junior Places

Places were allocated on Thursday - Y2 parents should have received information about places. We will be sharing more information soon about transition.

September Classes - All Year Groups

Teachers will be starting to think about organising classes very soon. If there is any important information you would like teachers to be aware of, please send an email to the class email address.

Reception Places

Welcome to our new Reception families! We are really excited about meeting you all soon! Parents should  have received an email this week with more information about visits to school, dates for September and our Parent Information Meeting.  There is also lots of useful information on our website.

Preschool Places

Thanks to those of you who have sent in applications for the academic year 2026-27. Places will be allocated via email by the end of April.

Screen Time

You may have seen the new government guidance that came out around screen time recently.

The BBC summarised the advice:-

Children under the age of five should be limited to one hour of screen time a day, while under-twos should not be watching screens alone, new government guidance says.

It advises parents to steer clear of fast-paced videos and use screens together where possible. The guidance also suggests "screen swaps" - taking screens away to read stories together or playing simple games at mealtimes.

The guidance is the first evidence-backed, practical advice issued by the government, but ministers say it will be kept under review as more evidence emerges.

"This is still quite an unknown area in lots of respects and we've taken a precautionary approach," Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson said.

  • If required, suncream should be applied at home
  • A packed lunch from home unless you have ordered a grab bag from school
  • If bringing packed lunch, please don't include nuts (incl. peanut butter etc)
  • A drink of water in a resealable container

Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely half term and enjoyed the little bit of spring sunshine we had! Just a reminder of the upcoming PTA events:

To celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday on Friday 8th May, the children will be learning about his incredible work and the natural world he has brought to life for so many. To mark the occasion, children are invited to come to school dressed as something from the natural world — an animal, bird, plant, flower or anything nature-inspired! We kindly ask for a £1 donation in book bags on the day. We can’t wait to see all the wonderful and creative outfits!

It’s not long until our School Disco which is on Thursday 14th May! It’s a fantastic opportunity for the children to spend time with friends, show off their best dance moves, and have lots of fun in a safe and familiar setting. Doors open at 5:30pm, with pick-up at 6:30pm. The cost is £6 per child.

We now need to get cracking with planning the 2026 Summer Fair which will take place on Friday 19th June! This year’s event will have a fun farm theme, with games including Feed the PigSplat the Rat and Guess the Name of the Scarecrow, alongside favourites like the bouncy castle and BBQ. As our biggest event of the year, we’ll need plenty of volunteers to help make it a success. If you’re able to lend a hand, please sign up as early as possible — your support will help us create a fun-filled and successful day for everyone! Please drop us a message at nethergreeninfantschoolpta@gmail.com

Finally, our next PTA meeting is on Tuesday 28th April, 19:45 at The Florentine. Everyone welcome!

If you’re not on the PTA WhatsApp group and could help with any of the events, please do get in touch via email - nethergreeninfantschoolpta@gmail.com.

Please join us!
