Headteacher's Welcome

The children have ended the week by having a fabulous time raising money for Children in Need at our Pyjama Fun Run. Thankfully the weather was kind and the sun shone! All of the children got outside, had a run, a dance and some fun to raise money for Children in Need. We have also had an intra-school 'Skipathon' competition this week; some classes had a skip along to the music too this morning. There was a winner in every class and the overall winner was Penguins thanks to Charlie who managed 115 skips! WOW!!!

It was so lovely to see the children outside having such fun in their pyjamas! Thanks to everyone for your support with this event.

So far we have raised...

£265.50!!

Thank you so much for supporting this fantastic charity who really do change the lives of so many children. There is still time to donate if you haven't done so already by clicking the link below...

This week everyone should have received letters via email with info about our PTA Winter Movie Night (Fri 1st Dec) and Santa’s Grotto (Wed 20th Dec). Let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to hosting these two fun, festive events!
We are also still very keen to receive donations of festive jumpers/leggings/pyjamas/dresses ahead of our Christmas Jumper Sale on Friday 24th November. If you have anything at all to spare, please hand it into the office asap. Thanks so much!

Messages  for Teachers

We know for parents there can be quick questions you want to ask teachers, or things you want to mention and that once children get into Year 1 & 2 there are fewer opportunities to do this. We are happy for you to email class teachers but know that sometimes a quick face to face conversation can be easier - teachers are more than happy to have a quick chat once they have handed children over safely to parents at the end of the school day.

The class email is the name of the class as follows e.g. bears@nethergreen-inf.sheffield.sch.uk,  etc

The Big Ambition - Survey
We have been contacted by the Children's Commissioner for England Dame Rachel De Souza and asked to share this survey with parents.
Message from the commisioner...

'I want to ensure that the voices of all children in the Yorkshire and the Humber area are fairly represented in the findings so that I can share their views with the most senior members of the country.

I must reiterate that it is vital that all children have their voice heard through this survey because, as Children’s Commissioner for England, I have a statutory duty to protect and promote the views and interests of children. The Big Ambition provides a much-needed opportunity for the children of England to tell political decision makers what is important to them ahead of the General Election. I will be sharing their responses with Government to ensure that children’s voices are heard.'

Parking on Stumperlowe Park Road

Unfortunately we have had more complaints from local residents this week about parents who are parking disrespectfully...one resident could not get out of her driveway to go to a health appointment. There was also a complaint that a parent had been rude to her when she had challenged them.

Please try to avoid driving down Stumperlowe Park Road as this makes it more dangerous for our children...and if you do, please show respect to others.

674a 20mph Speed Limit Zone Sign Face | Post & Wall Mounted

As you may be aware, Fulwood and Lodge Moor residents will have received a letter and map through the post from Sheffield City Council in consultation for a proposed 20mph speed limit through most of Fulwood and Lodge Moor. We anticipate that most parents will feel that this is a brilliant change for all sorts of reasons. The safety of our children and families has the greatest importance and as a school we also encourage active travel to school. We see this as a really positive change for the community. However, it has been brought to our attention by a number of parents that the proposed 20mph limit does not include Fulwood Road, Brookhouse Hill or Crimicar Lane which are some of the main routes to school for many of our children, and for those at the Nether Green Juniors. If you would like to respond to this proposal, including the proposed area that is covered, the council are inviting  comments by email to the following address: 20mphAreas@sheffield.gov.uk

You can see a map of the proposed area that will be covered by the 20mph zone by clicking this link
