Headteacher's Welcome

It was lovely to welcome so many parents into school this morning to look at children's books. They love sharing their fabulous work and showing off how clever they are - there were lots of very proud parents leaving when the bell went. If you were unable to attend please get in touch with class teachers and they will be more than happy to arrange a time when you can pop in and look at your child's books.

You may have noticed a few new faces or heard about some new staff who have just joined us; Mr Hopkinson is our new Buildings' Officer - he has joined us from another Sheffield school and is settling into the role really well. Mrs Hague has joined us as a Teaching Assistant in Bears Class and Mrs Martin and Mrs Ward will be working in Penguins in the mornings; Mrs Martin will also be working some afternoons in Bears class

The Calendar for this year has been updated - please take a lookThere are some new events added and also a change of date for the Summer Choir Concert in June. Calendar

The Reception children had a fabulous day yesterday when Mrs Bun and the Gingerbread Man visited school. Have a look below...

Our Flag Has Reached Everest

Paces Charity - Sheffield
Last year we supported the Sheffield based charity Paces in raising money for their special school. We held a competition to design a flag. Lots of children took part and one of our children, Matilda, (now in Y3) won the competition. The group successfully reached Everst base camp after many long days trekking. You can see our school flag alongside others.
Thank you to everyone who took part and helped us to raise £509 for Paces!

It's a short term so we have three simple but hopefully useful / fun events to take us up to half term:

Second Hand Uniform Sale, next Friday 26th January. Outside main gates at drop off. Potentially at pick up too if there's interest (let us know).
Cake Sale, Friday 2nd February. All donations much appreciated. Baked (with list of ingredients) or bought goodies to the office the afternoon before or that morning. 50ps in book bags for in-school sale to kids. Anything leftover will be sold outside school at pick up. No nuts please.
Dress as You Please Day, Friday 9th February. Kids can freestyle so long as outfits are practical for school (including playtime). £1 in book bags please.
Then during half term we'll be asking you to drum up some support for a Sponsored Laps of Leaps event which the kids will do during the school day on Thursday 29th February! Letter with details and sponsorship forms to follow.
And finally, for now, if you have any unwanted / duplicate gifts or leftover party bag bits you'd be happy to donate, please hand them into the office as they'll make perfect prizes and treasure for our summer fair!

Notes from the Teachers

Science Week 2024 - We need you!

Every year we join in with National Science Week by spending a week focusing on many different aspects of Science. The children take part in experiments, investigations and we often have workshops in school too. In the past we have invited parents into school who have a particular interest in an area of Science or use Science in their workplace. We would like parents to come and share their Science knowledge with the children by visiting their child's class or in the past we have sometimes had parents who have come and led an assembly for more children. If you are able to support our Science week by coming into school then please get in touch with your child's class teacher.

Year 1 & Year 2

This half term the topic is 'Brilliant Britain'. The children will be doing lots of exciting learning linked to the theme.
