Headteacher's Welcome

We have had a fun and busy week in school this week! The children have enjoyed our Under the Sea Arts week which included a fabulous workshop as well as lots of different art and craft activities. The Reception and Year 1 children have also had the opportunity to spend time in their new September classes which they have enjoyed and which hopefully will have set them up ready for a confident start to the school year in September.

Have a look at some of the super Art work!

Parent Survey

Thanks to those of you who have completed the Parent Survey. We had some very positive feedback from parents who were able to tell us what they feel is going well. There were also some suggestions of how we could make things even better which we welcome and will reflect on as a staff team and use to support our ongoing school development.

We had a couple of responses which referred to very specific issues to do with individual children. We would encourage all parents to speak to class teachers or myself if they are concerned about any aspect of their child's school life.

Toys for Reception

In preparation for next year, Reception are in need of a few 'new' toys and before we invest in new ones we wondered if you might have any of these items at home that your children have now outgrown and which you might consider donating to school.
If you do, please could you send photographs in for the Reception team to see before bringing to school so we can avoid duplicates.
We are on the search for;
  • Baby dolls
  • Baby doll prams/car seats/carriers
  • Baby doll cot/ high chair
  • Baby doll clothes
  • Small rug (for home corner)

  • Dressing up and toys linking to:
  • police officers,
  • doctors,
  • scientists,
  • pirates,
  • explorers (including little rucksacks)
  • traditional tales
  • Wooden play food
  • dinosaurs
  • construction sets like plus plus, things with children's screwdrivers

  • jigsaws
  • magnet sets

Please note:-

  • Clubs start in week commencing 7th September (week 2)
  • There is no Choir until 17th September (week 3)

We hope you're enjoying this lovely spell of sunshine and are looking forward to the summer holidays!  If you're out and about over the next few weeks, please consider supporting some of the brilliant local businesses that helped make our Summer Fair such a success.

Fancy a coffee and a slice of cake? Pop into Brook Coffee Rooms in Fulwood or The Woodland Coffee Stop in Ecclesall Woods. Looking for something to keep the children busy? Kids Love Yoga's holiday camp is a great way to burn off some energy (while bringing a little calm to the holidays!). Planning a barbecue? Pick up some fantastic artisan sausages from Piper's in Crosspool. And if you manage to sneak away for a bit of well-earned "me time", why not book yourself a manicure at The Beauty Clinic in Ranmoor, The Nail Loft in Fulwood or Peppermint Salon in Crosspool?

Perhaps you were one of our lucky raffle winners and have already enjoyed one of the generous prizes donated by our local businesses. I was delighted to win an Iris Sports Massage with Nikola, just round the corner at Fulwood Sports Club. It was absolutely brilliant. Whether you're a runner, a gym-goer, have the usual aches and pains, spend too long hunched over a laptop like me, or simply fancy an hour to properly switch off, I'd highly recommend it – bliss!

A huge thank you once again to all the wonderful local businesses who supported our Summer Fair – you can find them all here. Their generosity helped make the event such a success, and we hope our school community can continue to support them over the holidays. If you're able to, please shop local – it really does make a difference.

If you haven't already, why not download the easyfundraising app and raise money for the school every time you shop online? It doesn't cost you a penny extra, and if you're already signed up, you can refer a friend and earn a bonus donation for the school too!

And finally, have you considered joining the School Lottery? For just £1 a week, you'll be in with the chance of winning up to £25,000 while helping to raise regular funds for our school. With fewer people playing at the moment, the odds are looking even better – and our members seem to enjoy a win surprisingly often. It's a simple way to support the school, with the added bonus that you might just win too! Click here to join!

Children's Commissioner Survey

We have been asked by Dame Rachel de Souza, Children’s Commissioner for England

to share this survey with you to complete with your child.

"I want to hear from children aged 0–18 from every background, in every part of the country, and your support will help make that possible. I’m asking children about the things they enjoy, the challenges they face, the changes they want to see in their communities, and what they think a good childhood should look like today."
