Headteacher's Welcome

It has been another busy week in school! The Reception children entertained the residents of the Alms houses with their amazing singing on Tuesday and have been practising their fabulous biking skills today. We are looking forward to seeing their Spring Concert next week!

We have had some very special visitors in school this week. A huge thank you to Mrs Staniforth for bringing Pumpkin and Paddington in to see the children - they have loved the cuddles!

Happy Eid!

To all our families celebrating - have a lovely time!

Children are invited to send in any photos of their families celebrating Eid and wear any special clothes to school on Monday.

Mrs Coefield will be doing a special Eid assembly for all our children on Monday morning.

Easter Bonnet Parade Instructions for next Friday!

Parents and carers are invited to join us next Fri 27th Mar for the Easter Bonnet Parade.

Children from Nether Green Junior School will be parading up to our school, around the playground and back again. Our children will be standing around the perimeter of the playground as the older children parade past.

Children are invited to wear a Spring / Easter themed hat or headband if they wish.

Gates will open at 1:50pm and parents are invited to stand in the designated area to watch the Junior children parade followed by our children.

The PTA will be calling their Rainbow Raffle at 2:00pm and prizes can be collected straight away.

Parents / Carers are welcome to take their children home after the event if they wish.

Art Club is running as normal until 4:20pm and After School Club is running until 6:00pm.

Public Health Update

In light of the recent cases of invasive meningococcal disease reported in Kent, Sheffield public health services are reminding parents and carers about the importance of ensuring children and young people are up to date with routine vaccinations.

In particular, we would like to highlight the importance of the 6-in-1 (DTaP/IPV/Hib/HepB) vaccine and the MenB (meningococcal B) vaccine, which are offered across several doses in the first 18 months of life. These vaccines provide vital protection against serious illnesses, including meningitis and sepsis. While these are usually given in infancy, children who have missed one or more doses can still catch up.

It also crucial to ensure children are fully vaccinated against measles, as we know the disease continues to circulate in Yorkshire.

If any doses have been missed, they can be caught up by contacting your child’s GP practice or by attending a local School Age Immunisation Service (SAIS) drop-in clinic. Further information on clinic locations and times is available here:

School Meals Survey

Our school meals are provided by a company, Taylor Shaw, who have been commissioned by Sheffield City Council.

We are seeking views from parents about the meals that are offered in school.
Please click the link below to tell us what you think - if your child has a packed lunch we would still like to hear the reasons for choosing a packed lunch over a school dinner.
Thanks.

Extra Curricular Clubs After Easter

Things to note:-

  • Booking opens on Tues 24th Mar at 7:00pm
  • Please look at the info with your child to find out which clubs they would like to do - no refunds will be given
  • Choir is a longer block which goes into Summer term 2  and will run up until the 18th June as we will be preparing for our Summer Concert on the 23rd June - children will need to attend all these sessions.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated to the Rainbow Hampers — we really appreciate your generosity. We’ve started putting them together and they’re looking like real treats! There’s still a little space for a few more colourful goodies, so if you haven’t had a chance to contribute yet, there’s still time. Please also remember to return your raffle tickets and money to the School Office before next Friday’s draw at the Easter Bonnet Parade. Good luck to everyone taking part!

After the Easter holidays, it won’t be long until our School Disco on Thursday 14th May! It’s a fantastic opportunity for the children to spend time with friends, show off their best dance moves, and have lots of fun in a safe and familiar setting. Doors open at 5:30pm, with pick-up at 6:30pm. The cost is £6 per child. More details will be shared soon — we can’t wait to see everyone there!

NEW: To celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday on Friday 8th May, the children will be learning about his incredible work and the natural world he has brought to life for so many. To mark the occasion, children are invited to come to school dressed as something from the natural world — an animal, bird, plant, flower or anything nature-inspired! We kindly ask for a £1 donation in book bags on the day. We can’t wait to see all the wonderful and creative outfits!

We’re excited to share that planning is now underway for our Summer Fair, taking place on Friday 19th June! This year’s event will have a fun farm theme, with games including Feed the PigSplat the Rat and Guess the Name of the Scarecrow, alongside favourites like the bouncy castle and BBQ. As our biggest event of the year, we’ll need plenty of volunteers to help make it a success. If you’re able to lend a hand, please sign up as early as possible — your support will help us create a fun-filled and successful day for everyone! Please drop us a message at nethergreeninfantschoolpta@gmail.com

Finally, our next PTA meeting is on Tuesday 28th April, 19:45 at The Florentine. Everyone welcome!

If you’re not on the PTA WhatsApp group and could help with any of the events, please do get in touch via email - nethergreeninfantschoolpta@gmail.com.
