Headteacher's Welcome

It has been another action packed week in school this week! Our Y2 Penguins joined schools from all over Sheffield and stunned the crowds yesterday at the 'Battle of the Bands' Dance Festival. They performed to an audience of over 1000 people and were AMAZING!!! They have also performed to all their friends in school too. Well done Penguins - we are super proud of you!

The Reception children have been brilliant this afternoon at their Sports Event showing everyone their amazing skills - thanks so much to everyone who was able to join us for this fun event!

The Reception children had a great time at their 'Bug Ball' on Wednesday.

Have a fabulous Bank Holiday weekend and half term - enjoy the sunshine!

Choir Information

Your child has received a new booklet today containing all of the words for the Choir concert. They should listen to the music on the website and try to learn the songs off by heart.

Parts

Elephants and Kangaroos - Part 1

Penguins and Turtles - Part 2

There are a couple of small solos and smaller group songs - these will be decided after half term. If your child is interested, they should listen to and familiarise themselves with the additional songs that have been added to the song list.

SUMMER FAIR – THURSDAY 19th JUNE

As you may have seen on the WhatsApp groups, we would be hugely grateful for raffle donations and prizes from local businesses. So, next time you’re visiting your hairdresser, café, golf club, gym or favourite local shop, please do keep the PTA in mind and ask whether they might be willing to support the event. A Summer Fair flyer will be sent home in book bags next week, which you’re very welcome to share when approaching local businesses. Raffle tickets will also be coming home soon, and we’d really appreciate your help in buying and selling as many as you can to support the Fair.

We would also be very grateful of donations to the Children’s Tombola (toys, games, etc.), the 18+ Bottle Tombola and if you could make some (nut free) Treasure Jars – these are always very popular! Please let us know if you’re short of jars!

Finally, if you’re able to volunteer on the day, we would love to hear from you as soon as possible! Volunteer sign-up sheets will continue to be outside school after half term, so please do take a look and see if there’s a stand or game stall you’d like to help with. Events like this simply wouldn’t be possible without the support of our wonderful parent community. Many, many thanks to those that have already volunteered! Early sign-up really helps us plan ahead and make the day as enjoyable as possible for everyone!

!PTA HELP NEEDED!

The number of core PTA members has reduced significantly since last year, and we’re really feeling the pressure! If you’ve ever thought about getting a little more involved, now would be a hugely appreciated time to step forward! In particular, we’re currently looking to fill two key roles:

Pre Loved Uniform Sales

We are in need of a volunteer to oversee pre-loved school uniform sales. This would involve gathering donations, keeping stock up-to-date on the GrownOutOfIt website, and taking orders into school for collection. Please do let us know if this is something you might be able to help with. We can provide a handover and make sure you have everything you need to get started.

Treasurer

We’re also looking for a volunteer to join our PTA as Treasurer, taking over from Steph Roberts who will leave at the end of this school year. This is a great opportunity to get involved in school life and make a difference to the children—no big time commitment (c. 1 hr. per month). The key responsibilities are:

  • Prepare a simple financial summary for PTA meetings (every half term / around every 2 months)
  • Sign school lottery return forms (alongside the Head Teacher)
  • Prepare a report for the September AGM, summarising the financial position and highlights from the year
  • Update ParentKind and Charities Commission websites with new Chair, Treasurer and Trustee details
  • Submit approved accounts to the Charities Commission after the September AGM
  • Apply for a movie licence if a movie night is planned
  • Submit Gift Aid applications after a sponsored event

We’d especially welcome a parent whose child is going into a Reception or Year 1, as this’ll help provide continuity for a couple of years. Let us know if you’re interested. Steph will provide a handover and there is lots of written guidance.

Please join us!
