Headteacher's Welcome

We have had a super day in school today celebrating the 100th Birthday of Sir David Attenborough! We have been surrounded by all sorts of creatures from ladybirds to giraffes as well as lots of explorers! The children have really enjoyed learning about the life and work of Attenborough this week and lots of the animals that he has helped to protect through his work.

Last week we posted a birthday card to Sir David Attenborough which contained a special page created by every class in school - here they are...

We hope the children have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday today in their wonderful nature-inspired outfits. It has been lovely to see such creativity and enthusiasm, and to share a day focused on the natural world and the importance of caring for our planet.

The School Disco is taking place next Thursday (14th May) and we can’t wait! It’s a fantastic opportunity for the children to spend time with friends, show off their best dance moves and enjoy an evening of fun in a safe and familiar setting! Doors will open at 5:30pm, with collection at 6:30pm. The final details of drop off and pick up will be shared shortly.

Planning is now fully underway for the largest PTA event of the year, the Summer Fair on which will take place on Friday 19th June! This year’s event will have a fun farm theme, with games including Feed the PigSplat the Rat and Guess the Name of the Scarecrow, alongside popular favourites such as the bouncy castle and BBQ.

A huge thank you and shout out to The Eye Place at Dore and Bakewell who are very generously sponsoring the BBQ and already donated a raffle prize. Their support is much appreciated. As you will have hopefully seen on the WhatsApp groups, we would be very grateful for any other raffle prizes from local businesses. So next time you’re visiting your hairdresser, café, golf club, gym or favourite local shop, please do keep the PTA in mind and ask if they might be willing to support the event.

We would also be very grateful of donations to the Children’s Tombola (toys, games, etc.), the 18+ Bottle Tombola and if you could make some (nut free) Treasure Jars – these are always very popular!

Finally, if you’re able to volunteer on the day – whether it is helping serve refreshments or running a game stall – we would love to hear from you as soon as possible! Events like this rely on the support of our wonderful parent community, and early sign-up really helps us plan ahead and make the day as smooth, enjoyable and successful as possible for everyone! If you’re able to lend a hand, please drop us a message on the PTA WhatsApp or email - nethergreeninfantschoolpta@gmail.com

Many thanks for your continued generosity and support! We can’t wait for another brilliant Summer Fair!

Please join us!
