Headteacher's Welcome It was lovely to welcome prospective parents into our school last night for our open evening. It is always a privilege to share all the wonderful things that our children do with the wider community.
SENDCO Update We are reluctantly sharing the news with you that our brilliant SENDco, Mrs Stackhouse, will be leaving Nether Green Infant School at Christmas. For those of you who have worked closely with Mrs Stackhouse you will know that her knowledge of SEND, understanding of all our children and support for parents is amazing and we are very sad to be losing her expertise, knowledge and experience from our staff term.
Mrs Stackhouse will be taking up a post as part of Sheffield City Council's new initiative in response to the DFE reforms to have 'Experts at hand' who can come into school and support SENDcos and Teachers to enable every child in mainstream schools in Sheffield to have the SEND support they need. We know Mrs Stackhouse will be brilliant at this but will be very sad to see her go.
We are pleased to tell you that we have appointed a new SENDco Beth Marriot who will join us in January. She has experience of school leadership, has experience of being a SENDco and is an Early Years expert. We are confident that she will fit well into our school community. We are planning for her join us before Christmas to meet children and parents - we will keep you posted!
Support Dogs - Thank You! The children have had a great time today learning about Support Dogs. We have had Jilly the Labrador in school to show us how well she is doing with her support dog training - she has learnt all sorts of helpful tricks already - she can pick up keys, help her owner take their jacket off, open doors and she even showed our Preschool children how she can get washing out of the washing machine - AMAZING! |

THANK YOU: Superhero Dogs Day We hope the children had a brilliant time dressing up for the Superhero Dogs Day today! We’ve loved seeing all the fun, creative and super-cute outfits, and the excitement of a very special visit from the team at Support Dogs – complete with a real-life superhero pup! It was a fantastic way to raise money for both Support Dogs and our school, while helping the children learn more about difference, the importance of supporting others, and the incredible work this wonderful charity does with its amazing dogs. A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the day so special!
UPDATE: Preloved School Uniform Update Nothing else new to report this week, just a few reminders: Autumn Cake Sale – Wednesday 21st October Tea Towels – Order deadline Wednesday 21st October Christmas Cards – Return to school by Friday 6th November It’s never too early to get organised for Christmas! The children will have the opportunity to create their own festive picture at home, which can then be turned into personalised Christmas cards, keyrings, mugs and other goodies. Orders will be placed online directly with Xmas4Schools, making these another lovely idea for personalised Christmas gifts. Templates and order forms will be coming home in book bags shortly, so please keep an eye out! Completed forms must be returned to school by Friday 6th November. Christmas Fair – Friday 27th November Plans are already underway! We’ll need quite a few volunteers to help with the Elfridges store, cake sales, book sales and, hopefully, some festive refreshments too. If you can volunteer, please let us know as early as possible via the PTA WhatsApp group or nethergreeninfantschoolpta@gmail.com. MANY thanks to everyone who has already been in touch. Thanks as always for your support! |

October is... Thanks to those families who have support this so far.
As part of Black History Month, we would like to share that we have decided to have a whole school focus on Baroness Floella Benjamin and her book - Coming to England. Throughout the month, we will be reading her story, learning more about her life and experiences in England, and creating a range of engaging learning opportunities for the children.
This will be in addition to the optional research home learning that our Year 1 and Year 2 children have already brought home. However, if you don't wish to, or are unable to complete the research home learning, but have books at home by black authors, we would love for the children to bring them into school to share with their class.
