Headteacher's Welcome It has been a very active week in school this week. The Reception children had a super time on Monday with their Balance Bike sessions where they were able to develop confidence riding over ramps, through obstacles and around cones. It was great to see how much confidence they had gained by the end of the session. The children have really enjoyed their RuggerEds taster sessions today too - they did super listening and were able to have a really active session. Well done everyone!

Cake Sale – Friday 10th October
A reminder of this date and thanks to those that have kindly volunteered to run the sale. Children will be invited to choose their cakes after lunch. If you’d like your child to buy one, it would be great if you could pop 50p in their book bag that morning. Any donations of cakes, buns and biscuits (baked or bought) would be gratefully received and can be brought to the office from 8.30am on Friday morning. They can be dropped off on Thursday (9th October) before school pick up if that works better. Any remaining cakes will be sold outside after school. Please remember we are a nut free school. If you bake cakes, please include a list of ingredients on the tin. Dress As You Please – Wednesday 22nd October We hope the children have their outfit planned! Please pop £1 in their book bag if they take part. Christmas Fair – Friday 28th November, 3.20-4.30 pm Thanks to those that have already volunteered to support this event. The donations box went out this week (after the rain!) – many thanks also to those that have already donated. There’s still plenty of time to do your clear out and make donations of any unwanted gifts in new or like new condition so that the children can purchase gifts for their loved ones at the Elfridges store! We would also be very grateful for any outgrown school uniform and Christmas clothing (jumpers, pyjamas, etc.).
Christmas Movie Night – Friday 5th December, 5-6.30 pm It’s popcorn and pyjamas time for Christmas movie night! This year we will be showing the appropriately festive Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas. Further information will be shared shortly but so that you can plan – drop off will be at 5pm and pick up at 6.30pm. Santa’s Grotto – Monday 15th December Last, but absolutely not least, we are extremely excited to announce that Father Christmas will be visiting school on Monday 15th December! The children will have the opportunity to visit him in his festive grotto in small groups during the normal school day. He will be giving them each a small gift! The cost is £4 per child and will be payable via ParentPay – more info to follow soon! This year the PTA will funding the development of the play area at the back of the Kangaroos classroom. This will create a fun area where the children can play, problem solve and be creative. There will be a sandpit, tyres, pipes, and a stage. More info on the other ways we’ll be supporting the school to follow in future updates. Please do support us in any way you can. Notes from the Teachers Y2 Maths Talk for Parents - Wednesday 8th October Do you want to know more about how you can support your child at home with Maths? Come and find out about how Maths is taught, which strategies are used and how you can help your child to become really confident with their Maths knowledge. We know not all parents are able to attend during the school day so will share the information with parents after the meeting. Contact with Teachers If you need to contact your child's class teacher you may email them using the class email which is the name of the class as follows e.g. bears@nethergreen-inf.sheffield.sch.uk, koalas@nethergreen-inf.sheffield.sch.uk etc Please do not expect an immediate response as teachers are teaching all day and are not expected to reply to emails during evenings and weekends. For a quick chat you can wait at the end of the day. For urgent messages please contact the school office. |
