Headteacher's Welcome

I hope you all enjoyed the half term break and were able to make the most of the beautiful sunshine! The children certainly came back full of energy after a good rest.

We were really disappointed to have to cancel the Y1 and Y2 Sports Morning on Wednesday - we are currently liaising with Hallam Primary school and hopefully will be in touch soon with a new date.

It is hard to believe that we are now in the final term of the school year! Our Reception children have been with us for nearly a year and our Year 2s are now starting to prepare their transition to their junior schools - how time flies!

Well done to all of the Reception children who have been coming into school by themselves and saying goodbye to their grown ups at the gate - this is really good preparation for Y1!

Year 2 children who are transitioning to Nether Green Junior School will be bringing home some information on Monday with further details about the transition to Y3. They will also be visiting the school on Tuesday afternoon to see the Orchestra and Choir perform.

Our Lion Cub will  be situated in The Circle, 33 Rockingham Lane, Sheffield, S1 4FW from the 8th June to 7th September for all to see!
There will be physical trail maps available for purchase in venues across the region as well as a digital app for you to collect all the sculptures you find on the trail!
All money raised from this project will be going towards the redevelopment of the Emergency Department at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. You can read the full story on how you are making a difference here: Pride of Yorkshire

Choir Information

Please continue to encourage your child to practise at home - there are only two more Thursday rehearsals to go and lots of words to learn!

Penguins and Turtles - Part 2

Road Safety Officers

Our Road Saftety Officers were out in the local area yesterday. They have been putting stickers on lamposts to show places that are a 5 minute walk away from school to encourage parents and carers to park further away from school.

SUMMER FAIR – Friday 19th JUNE

Thank you to everyone who has already signed up to help – it’s great to see stalls and games filling up! But we still need volunteers, if you can spare 45 minutes or more we would really value your help and children can join as “little helpers”!

Thank you for the fantastic support with raffle prizes – we’ve already received nearly £600 worth, donated by local businesses, towards our £1,000 target. If you’re visiting local places such as your hairdresser, café, golf club or gym, please consider asking for a prize donation. Posters and donation request letters are available on the volunteer noticeboard.

Thank you for donations so far to the Children’s Tombola, 18+ Bottle Tombola and Treasure Jars. For further donations, the box is usually outside the school (weather permitting) or in reception.

*PTA HELP URGENTLY NEEDED*

A quick follow-up to our appeal last week! We’re still looking for volunteers to help with our Pre-Loved Uniform Sales Coordinator and Treasurer roles. Whilst we had a fun and productive meeting on Tuesday, we didn’t have any new faces join us this time.

The PTA does so much to support the school and create memorable experiences for the children, and we’d love to keep that going. Like many school PTAs, we rely on a small group of core members, and at the end of this school year, two of our six core members will be moving on. So we’re keen to welcome some new people to the team. A little extra help will make a huge difference and help ensure that events like the Summer Fair can continue for years to come.

The commitment is manageable and flexible. Attending a meeting every couple of months is the main requirement, and tasks can be shared and fitted around work, family and other commitments. We are all working mums ourselves, so we completely understand that busy lives can suddenly become very busy! We support one another and are always happy to step in when someone has more on their plate than usual, so there’s always help offered if needed. A small contribution of time from several people goes such a long way.

If you feel you could take on a small but regular role within the PTA, or would simply like to find out more before committing, please get in touch. We'd love to hear from you!

Please join us!
