 Headteacher's Welcome

The children in Year 1 and Year 2 have really enjoyed their Seaside Workshops which have taken place over the past two weeks. It has been so wonderful to be able to have a specialist visitor back in school again to share her knowledge, expertise and amazing seaside artefacts. The children really enjoyed learning about what seasides were like in the past, dressing up in some Victorian seaside clothing and being able to handle some of the historic artefacts. I'm sure the children will also have enjoyed telling you all about it at home. Here are a few pictures from the visit!

Sheffield Race Day - Well Done Team Nether Green!

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the team in the Half Marathon and 10K races on Sunday. It was such an amazing atmosphere and the motivation of knowing how much support was out there for Challenge 230 was a huge incentive to get the team up those hills and back to the finish line. Thank you to everyone who cheered us on and everyone who has donated. With the support of so many of our Nether Green Community the whole team together managed to run 230km and the team have helped Harriet and to raise over £14,000...WOW!!!!

( It's not too late to donate!! Challenge 230)

 Extra Curricular Clubs

We are delighted to be in a position where we are now able to start offering some more extra curricular activities. Most After School Activities will be running under the umbrella of our own After School Club - this gives us the peace of mind that staff who know the children are overseeing critical safeguarding aspects such as bookings (so we know who to expect in school) and handover to parents at the end. Some extra curricular clubs will be run by external specialist teachers or coaches whilst others will utilise the skills and talents of our own school staff.

Our aim is that in time we will offer a range of curriculum areas and opportunities including Music, Arts and Sports clubs.

These are the opportunities available this half term and we will be adding to this after half term:-

Mondays - Starts Monday 4th October - Woodland Sessions - den building and other forest fun! This is open to all children. There will be a maximum of 20 places per session. BOOK VIA PARENTPAY. Letter with more info.

Wednesdays - Multi-Skills; sports active session until 4:20pm. This will be led by a coach from Archers School Sports Partnership. Booking is required for the block of 6 sessions via ParentPay. Letter with more info.

Fridays: During the school day

Piano Lessons : Pav will be starting piano lessons - see letter for information (book directly with Pav)

Rocksteady Music - all children will be taking part in a workshop during school on Tuesday 5th October - information will be emailed to parents about the activity following the workshop next week.

Choir: This will be stating with Mrs Hawkins after half term and is open to Y1 and Y2 children - there will be a couple of lunchtime taster sessions for children to come along and see if they want to join before half term.

Well done Esme, Freya and Emily!

During the summer holidays, Esme, Freya and big sister Emily did several challenges to raise money for Sheffield Children's Hospital. Freya rode 11 miles on her bike, Emily swam 800 metres and Esme did 610 cartwheels in 1 hour and 11 minutes! All of these exceeded the target they set themselves. So far they’ve raised £650 including Gift Aid. What an amazing achievement - well done girls!  If anyone would like to donate then there is still time!

Rudolph Christmas Cards!

We realise it’s early to be thinking about Christmas, but if you’re looking for a way to support the school and make a start on your Christmas shopping, this is the perfect opportunity!

Your child will shortly be bringing home a template on which they can design a special picture ready for Christmas.  This can then be printed on to Christmas cards, mugs and a whole range of other products.  Please see the parent letter for more information and examples.

If you are interested, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Child completes their design on the drawing template (should appear in your child’s bag or you can print off a copy of your own). Please note, stick to felt-tip or water-based paint.  No sparkly glitter please!
  2. Complete the order form next to your child’s drawing.
  3. Make your payment on ParentPay.
  4. Return your drawing to school. Deadline for this is Thursday 21st

Purchases should arrive in plenty of time for Christmas. They will be distributed at school for children to take home. Please click here for the design form.

Snack Time  - All Classes  Vector graphics of plate of fruits drawing | Free SVG

We are finding that increasing numbers of children are bringing their own snacks from home for snack time each day. School provide a free snack every day as part of the government 'free fruit and veg' scheme. We know that some children can be particular about the type of fruit / veg they eat and that mornings can be long without a snack. Therefore we are asking that if you do wish to send your child with a  different snack please only bring fresh fruit or vegetables.

Year 1 and Year 2

Thank you so much to all those parents who were able to attend the meet the teacher event on Wednesday! It was so lovely to meet you all face- to-face! The children certainly enjoyed sharing their books and classrooms with parents too - thank you!
