Headteacher Welcome

I hope you all had a good half term - the children have certainly come back ready and rejuvenated after the break - which is good as it is a busy one! Please take a few minutes to look at all the diary dates so that nothing gets missed!

We have been able to reschedule our Y1 & Y2 Sports Morning at Hallam Primary School for the morning of Thursday 27th June 10am - this was literally the only date that was mutually convenient so we are crossing everything that it's dry for us. All other details remain the same - please bring your child to school at normal time.

The Reception Sports Afternoon will take place next Thursday, 13th June, at 2:00pm; as previously planned if you wish to take your child straight home after this you may.

The Year 1 & 2 children have kick-started the term with a fabulous workshop led by the Author Bethan Woollvin. It was fantastic for the children to have a real life Author and Illustrator in school to talk about her fabulous books. She demonstrated how she creates her illustrations and the children all had their own chance to make a picture in the style of Bethan Woollvin. You can see how fantastic they are below!

If someone different to usual is collecting your child from extra-curricular clubs please email the school office to ensure ASC staff are aware.

Year 2 Transition to Nether Green Junior School

This half term the children in Year 2 will be preparing for their move onto their junior schools. The majority of our children will be moving onto Nether Green Junior school so we have a number of activities planned to ensure a smooth transition for them all.

Dates and Activities

Tues 11th Jun - visit to NGJS to watch the orchestra in the afternoon

Wed 26th Jun - Y3 teachers to visit Y2 children in school and meet with teachers; information to be sent out from NGJS about new classes and teachers.

Tues 2nd Jul - Family Evening at NGJS - 6:15pm @ NGJS

Mon 8th Jul - Y2 to visit NGJS

If your child is going to a different school for Y3, we are happy to accommodate any transition visits for them to their new school - please let us know dates.

World Music Day - 18th June*

We will be celebrating World Music Day on Tuesday 18th June. The children will be taking part in a  workshop in school and other music related activities. If your child plays an instrument and would like to bring their instrument into school to show to their class (and play if they wish)  they are very welcome.

Any parents who have musical talents are also very welcome to come and share their musical talents with us. Please speak to or email your child's class teacher to arrange this.

*The official World Music day is 21st June however this clashes with the Summer Fair!

PTA Summer Fair 2024 - Friday 21st June (3:20-5pm)
It’s just ONE WEEK until all the fun of our summer fair. Grandparents, siblings all welcome. Keep fingers crossed for sunshine!
Remember there are loads of great prizes to be won in our raffle - see the signs outside school for more details! If you or other friends/family want more tickets, you can get them from the office.
Here’s also a recap of the things we still need in order for it to be a great experience for everyone:
VOLUNTEERS ON THE DAY: the board is still up outside school. Please pop your name down for one or more slots if you’re able to help. We especially need help with the snacks stall, refreshments and tombolas. We promise the stints are short, easy and everything’s provided. Kids can help staff too!
Treasure jars

Arguably the most popular stall of the fair, we want to make sure there are plenty of jars for the kids to win this year! Typically they’re filled with a mix of little bits and bobs - the sort of thing you’d find in a party bag (bubbles, stickers, sweets, mini games, craft stuff, socks etc) but feel free to get creative! If you don’t have a jar at home, there are some in the office ready for pick up.

Bottle tombola

We are also planning on running a bottle tombola again so would love donations of bottles of any kind.  They could be bottles of wine / fruit drinks / bubble bath / olive oil etc- even better if in a gift bag!

There are boxes in the main office ready to collect donations.

Thank you so so much!

 Please email any questions to
